Two best friends from childhood, Rafe (Ben Affleck) and Danny (Josh Hartnett), grow up wanting to fly planes. When Rafe gets the chance to join the Royal Air Force during World War II, he takes it, leaving his new love, Evelyn (Kate Bekinsale), a dedicated Navy nurse, and Danny, also a pilot, behind. Danny and Evelyn are transferred separately to the idyllic paradise of Hawaii, where they eventually meet through a connection to Rafe, who has been declared missing. When Rafe shows up unexpectedly, the love triangle begins to get serious; but a surprise attack occurs that affects everyone. I love the mannerism of the of the male rolls throughout this film and I wish it was still present in today society. I can't remember the last time a young man opened the car door for me or let me walk through the door before him..... Manors ay men where have they gone????
